Best live bait for saltwater fishing?

I was wondering what you people consider the best live bait for fishing Saltwater (in SC, USA, in my case). I was using shrimp, which I suppose is pretty standard, but I was wondering Some of you have found to be most effective. Thank you.

Depends on what you are after, live shrimp is ok to Most coastal fish, but the problem with them is non-target fish steal a good portion of them and if you buy the shrimp can be costly.
