The WesterFlora Garden Tour is presenting its 17th year of selected gardens in the Westerville community – gardens bursting with color, plant collections, water features, theme gardens, scenic views and much more. The theme this year is “WesterFlora Celebrates Gardens Since 1858”.
WesterFlora began the same year the AmeriFlora ’92 International Flower Show was held in Columbus. Communities throughout Central Ohio conducted local gardening contests in conjunction with AmeriFlora – some lasted for a few years after the AmeriFlora show, but only Westerville’s –WesterFlora – continues as an annual event.
WesterFlora has evolved from a judged gardening competition to a non-competitive garden tour leading to greater community participation. Members of the Westerville Civic Beautification Committee select gardens for the tour from the entries received, and those that best represent landscape diversity, uniqueness, and horticultural expression.
Entry forms are available starting May 4 and are accepted through June 22. Please click here or pick yours up at the Westerville Community Center at 350 N. Cleveland or the Westerville Public Library at 126 S. State starting May 4. Entries are open to residents of 43081 & 43082 zip code areas of Westerville or within the Westerville School District.
All entries will receive a promotional sign for their yard to promote WesterFlora 2008. Entries selected for the WesterFlora Garden Tour will be notified by June 30. The WesterFlora Garden Tour date is Sunday, July 20, 2008, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please place entries in the WesterFlora box at the Westerville Community Center or the Westerville Public Library.
